Synopsis

Tyler, a failed filmmaker turned single father, unexpectedly finds himself working on a construction job renovating the vacation home of his former college roommate Tobin, now a successful sculptor. As the weeks go by, Tyler navigates retaining his sense of self amidst the demands and unresolved resentments his new workplace brings about.

An experimental, 3D-animated take on modern creative labor conditions, director James N. Kienitz Wilkins’ The Misconceived is an “incisive, inventive movie about the anxieties faced by the never-quite-made-it creative class” (The Film Stage) that “catapults his recurring constellation of themes into his craziest visual world yet.” (Reverse Shot)
